The Brooks Preservation Society (BPS), a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, was formed in 2008 with the mission to protect, preserve, and celebrate historic structures and artifacts in Brooks as well as the surrounding communities for the benefit of the citizens and local economy.

Amoung our objectives are the preservation of the Belfast & Moosehead Lake Railroad corridor running through Waldo County, the preservation and restoration of the Brooks Railroad Station, and the preservation of several historical Belfast & Moosehead Lake Railroad locomotives, railcars, and MOW equipment. To that end we have formed the Belfast & Moosehead Lakey Railway and offer weekend excurions during our operational season.

All this is possible through a devoted group of volunteers who run our trains, maintain our tracks, equipment, and perform the restoration work needed on the station. Please see our projects and volunteer pages for additional information.

Join us on for our monthly meeting on the third Thursday of each month at the station in Brooks, Maine. The meeting will start at 7:00 p.m. You don't have to be a member to attend a meeting. For a complete overview, download our brochure

If you would like to get involved in our activities, please take a moment to complete our short application to become part of our preservation family. New members are always welcome.
